MUSIC AT THE MARKET

Mister Felix is an “indie” rock band based in the Raleigh area comprised of four veteran local musicians. Each has different styles and musical influences.

Their music is characterized by catchy riffs, that draw you in, captivating melodies that make you glad you came. Intelligent and thoughtful lyrics that make you want to stay and infectious grooves that just make you feel good. Singer Catherine Johnson initiates the creative process crafting characters and their stories. Her songs explore the full range of human emotion and experiences.

The melodies and initial chordal arrangements are hers as well. Guitarist Robert Woessner adds percussive strumming, alternative chord phrasings and melodic lead work. Bassist Ted Buckner and drummer Aaron Henry draw on their extensive musical vocabularies to add innovative grooves that fill out the rhythms and ramp up the energy.

People ask about the name “Mister Felix” It’s not a person. It’s a place and time “It’s what we do when we come together,” says Catherine. “Felix means ‘happy, lucky’ and successful.

Making music with these guys makes me really happy.” In addition to the original music, the band performs a diverse set of familiar cover songs. Genres span everything from old school American standards to 1970s singer songwriters through 2020s rock. If it’s a great song we connect with, we’ll play it. (o:
